John Mongiovi is a Board Certified Hypnotist in New York City. He was licensed and certified by the State of Indiana Medical Licensing Board Hypnotist Committee in 2004. He is Board Certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), and his work has been published in the NGH journal Hypno-Gram.
John most frequently helps people with unwanted habits, fears, and anxieties. He specializes in helping performers improve confidence, focus, memorization, and motivation. He has worked for the personal and professional development of musicians for over twenty years, and has spoken at hundreds of colleges, universities, and conservatories throughout the United States. From 2009-2015 he served as the National President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a fraternal organization of over 150,000 musicians. Since 2012 he has been a regular guest faculty member of the Sherrill Milnes VOICE programs in New York, Florida, and Georgia. He has also been a co-organizer and presenter of New York University Steinhardt School's "Inner Life of the Performing Artist" symposium.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in biology / pre-medicine from Rollins College, and a master’s degree in music theory from University of South Florida.
John is one of 21 practitioners in the United States, and the only Hypnotist in New York, to have been licensed and certified by state examination. New York does not require or provide for state licensing of hypnotists. John was licensed and certified as a Hypnotist by the State of Indiana (License No. 38000105A) and maintained Active License Status until 2010, when the Indiana Hypnotist Statutes were dissolved.
